Oath Charles Peregrine Courtenay the Earl of Devon having received a Writ of Summons in accordance with Standing Order 10 (Hereditary peers: by-elections), following the retirement of Earl Baldwin of Bewdley, sat first in Parliament having first taken and subscribed the oath and signed an undertaking to abide by the Code of Conduct. Notification of retirement The Clerk of the Parliaments informed the House that he had received written notice from Baroness Blood under section 1 of the House of Lords Reform Act 2014 stating that she would retire from the House on 4 September 2018.

Business of the House The Lord Privy Seal (Baroness Evans of Bowes Park) moved that Standing Order 46 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken on one day) be dispensed with on Tuesday 4 September 2018 to allow the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Bill to be taken through its remaining stages that day.
