Summary
Trade Union (Levy Payable to the Certification Officer) Regulations 2022 Lord Callanan moved that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 14 December 2021 be approved. Then Lord Bassam of Brighton moved, as an amendment to the motion, at the end insert “but that this House regrets that the Regulations impose an effective tax on trade unions to cover the costs of the Certification Officer, to whom very few complaints have been recorded, and which is not the case for other civil society institutions.” After debate, the amendment was withdrawn. Then the original motion was agreed to.
