Summary
Immigration (European Economic Area Nationals) (EU Exit) Order 2019 Baroness Williams of Trafford moved that the draft Order laid before the House on 11 February 2019 be approved. Then Lord Kennedy of Southwark moved, as an amendment to the motion, at the end insert “but that this House regrets that the draft Order provides for changes to the status of European Economic Area nationals entering or resident in the United Kingdom that should be made with the full scrutiny of both Houses in the Immigration and Social Security Co-ordination (EU Withdrawal) Bill; and that Her Majesty’s Government have failed to provide details on the practicalities of the varying types of leave to remain, including how they will be enforced, the length of an application process for extended leave to remain, and the impact on individuals who may be asked to prove their status”. After debate, the amendment was withdrawn. Then the original motion was agreed to.
