Summary
Channel Islands Measure The Lord Bishop of Birmingham moved that this House do direct that, in accordance with the Church of England Assembly (Powers) Act 1919, the Channel Islands Measure be presented to Her Majesty for the Royal Assent. Then Lord Faulkner of Worcester moved, as an amendment to the motion, at end insert “but that this House regrets that the Ecclesiastical Committee was not given the opportunity to consider the report of the investigation carried out by Dame Heather Steel into the handling of safeguarding issues by the church in Jersey.” After debate, the amendment was withdrawn. Then the original motion was agreed to.
