Procedure and Privileges The Senior Deputy Speaker (Lord McFall of Alcluith) moved that the Report from the Select Committee Resetting the limits for Oral Questions, topical Oral Questions, balloted debates and topical Questions for Short Debate; and further temporary suspension of the Standing Orders relating to hereditary peers’ by-elections (5th Report, HL Paper 190) be agreed to. Then Lord Mancroft moved, as an amendment to the above motion, at end to insert “, but that this House regrets the further suspension of hereditary peers’ by-elections, and calls for such by-elections to resume as soon as possible.” After debate, the amendment was withdrawn. Then the original motion was agreed to.
