Then Lord Mancroft moved, as an amendment to the above motion, at end to insert “, but that this House regrets the further suspension of hereditary peers’ by-elections, and calls for such by-elections to resume as soon as possible.” After debate, the amendment was withdrawn. Then the original motion was agreed to.
