House of Lords Journal

Parliament Met at 2.30pm pursuant to a proclamation dated 12 April 2010. The Lords Commissioners being seated, Lord Strathclyde in the middle with the Lord Speaker (Baroness Hayman) and Baroness Royall of Blaisdon to his right hand and Lord McNally and Baroness D’Souza on his left, the Commission for opening Parliament dated 18 May 2010 was read. The Commons, being present at the Bar, were directed to proceed to the choice of a Speaker and to present the person chosen for the Royal Approbation.

Prayers were read by the Lord Bishop of Lichfield.
