2 Lord McAlpine of West Green The Clerk of the Parliaments informed the House that he had received written notice from Lord McAlpine of West Green in accordance with section 42(1) of the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010, and that Lord McAlpine of West Green had therefore ceased to be a member of the House on 26 May 2010.

3 Leave of Absence Leave of absence was granted to Baroness Amos for the remainder of this Parliament.

11 Contaminated Blood (Support for Infected and Bereaved Persons) Bill [HL] Lord Morris of Manchester presented a bill to establish a committee to advise on haemophilia; to make provision in relation to blood donations; to establish a scheme for NHS Compensation Cards for people who have been treated with and infected by contaminated blood or blood products; to make provision for the financial compensation of people treated with and infected by contaminated blood and blood products and their widows, dependants and carers; to establish a review of the support available for people who have been treated with and infected by contaminated blood or blood products; and for connected purposes. 12 Building Regulations (Review) Bill [HL] Lord Harrison presented a bill to make provision for a review of the Building Regulations 2000 with regard to the installation of automatic fire suppression systems in new residential premises. 13 House of Lords Reform Bill [HL] Lord Steel of Aikwood presented a bill to make provision for the appointment of a Commission to make recommendations to the Crown for the creation of life peerages; to restrict membership of the House of Lords by virtue of hereditary peerage; to make provision for permanent leave of absence from the House of Lords; to provide for the expulsion of members of the House of Lords in specified circumstances; and for connected purposes. 14 Marine Navigation Aids Bill [HL] Lord Berkeley presented a bill to establish a Marine Navigation Aids Commission; to establish an Office of Marine Navigation Aids Regulation; to amend the Merchant Shipping Act 1995; and for connected purposes. 15 Committee of Selection The Chairman of Committees moved that in accordance with Standing Order 63 a Committee of Selection be appointed to select and propose to the House the names of the members to form each select committee of the House (except the Committee of Selection itself and any committee otherwise provided for by statute or by order of the House) or any other body not being a select committee referred to it by the Chairman of Committees, and the panel of Deputy Chairmen of Committees; and that the following members together with the Chairman of Committees be appointed to the Committee:
