2 Lord Deben The Rt Hon John Selwyn Gummer, having been created Baron Deben, of Winston in the County of Suffolk, for life by Letters Patent dated 21 June 2010, was introduced between Lord Chadlington and Lord Lloyd-Webber, took and subscribed the oath and signed an undertaking to abide by the Code of Conduct. 4 Lord Quinton The Lord Speaker informed the House that Lord Quinton, a member of the House, had died on 19 June 2010.

7 Allhallows Staining Church Bill [HL] The Chairman of Committees moved that the Commons message of 16 June be now considered; and that the promoters of the Allhallows Staining Church Bill [HL], which was originally introduced in this House in Session 2009–10 on 25 January 2010, should have leave to proceed with the Bill in the current Session according to the provisions of Standing Order 150B (Revival of bills). The motion was agreed to and a message was sent to the Commons.

8 Kent County Council (Filming on Highways) Bill [HL] The Chairman of Committees moved that the Commons message of 16 June be now considered; and that the promoters of the Kent County Council (Filming on Highways) Bill [HL], which was originally introduced in this House in Session 2009–10 on 25 January 2010, should have leave to proceed with the Bill in the current Session according to the provisions of Standing Order 150B (Revival of bills). The motion was agreed to and a message was sent to the Commons.

9 Local Government Bill [HL] The following memorials alleging, pursuant to Private Business Standing Order 83 (Examination of public bills by Examiners), that Private Business Standing Orders of both Houses are applicable to the bill; and complaining of non-compliance with those Standing Orders were deposited:

10 Health: cancer A question was asked by Baroness Gardner of Parkes and answered by Earl Howe.

11 Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 A question was asked by Lord Harris of Haringey and answered by Lord Henley.

12 Justice: legal fees A question was asked by Lord Lester of Herne Hill and answered by Lord McNally.

13 Economy: eurozone A question was asked by Lord Trimble and answered by Lord Sassoon.

14 Works of Art The Chairman of Committees moved that Baroness Maddock be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Lord Smith of Clifton, resigned, and that Lord Roberts of Llandudno be appointed a member of the Select Committee. The motion was agreed to.

15 Business of the House Lord Strathclyde moved that that leave be given to advance the motion in the name of Baroness Verma from Monday 28 June to Tuesday 22 June. The motion was agreed to.

16 Academies Bill [HL] The bill was considered in Committee. Amendment 1 was considered. The House resumed.

17 Free Schools policy Lord Hill of Oareford repeated as a ministerial statement the answer given to an Urgent Question in the House of Commons.

18 European Council Lord Strathclyde repeated a ministerial statement made in the House of Commons.

19 Academies Bill [HL] The bill was further considered in Committee, beginning with amendment 2. The House resumed after amendment 3A.

20 Social Security (Claims and Payments) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2010 (SI 2010/870) Lord Lucas moved to resolve that this House regrets that the Social Security (Claims and Payments) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2010 (SI 2010/870), laid before the House on 10 February, will not prevent several port companies from becoming insolvent. After debate, the motion was withdrawn.

21 Academies Bill [HL] The bill was further considered in Committee, beginning with amendment 4. The House resumed after amendment 6.
