Prayers were read by the Lord Bishop of Chester.

1 Lord Spicer Sir William Michael Hardy Spicer, Knight, having been created Baron Spicer, of Cropthorne in the County of Worcestershire, for life by Letters Patent dated 8 July 2010, was introduced between Lord Cope of Berkeley and Lord Goodlad, took and subscribed the oath and signed an undertaking to abide by the Code of Conduct. (See Appendix 1)

2 Lord Wills The Rt Hon Michael David Wills, having been created Baron Wills, of North Swindon in the County of Wiltshire and of Woodside Park in the London Borough of Barnet, for life by Letters Patent dated 10 July 2010, was introduced between Baroness Blackstone and Lord Bach, made and subscribed the solemn affirmation and signed an undertaking to abide by the Code of Conduct. (See Appendix 2)

4 Leave of Absence Leave of absence was granted to the Lord Speaker for Monday 19 July.

5 Supreme Court: retirement age A question was asked by Lord Pannick and answered by Lord McNally.

6 Prisons: Muslim prisoners A question was asked by Lord Dholakia and answered by Lord McNally.

7 House of Lords: Royal Gallery Frescos A question was asked by Baroness Trumpington and answered by the Chairman of Committees.

8 Law reform: murder A question was asked by Lord Lloyd of Berwick and answered by Lord McNally.

9 House of Lords: working practices Lord Strathclyde moved that this House takes note of the case for reviewing the working practices of the House of Lords. After debate, the motion was agreed to.

10 National Health Service: white paper Earl Howe repeated a ministerial statement made in the House of Commons.
