1 Dukedom of Hamilton in the Peerage of Scotland and Dukedom of Brandon in the Peerage of Great Britain The Lord Chancellor reported that Alexander Douglas Douglas-Hamilton had established his succession to the Dukedom of Hamilton in the Peerage of Scotland and to the Dukedom of Brandon in the Peerage of Great Britain. The Clerk of the Parliaments was accordingly directed to enter the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon on the register of hereditary peers maintained under Standing Order 10(5).

Private Business

2 City of Westminster Bill [HL] Chairman of Committees informed the House that he had appointed Lord Geddes as a member of the Select Committee on the bill in place of the Earl of Onslow.

12 Science and Technology The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Willis of Knaresborough be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Lord Methuen, resigned. The motion was agreed to.

13 Higher education Baroness Wilcox moved that this House takes note of the Independent Review of Higher Education Funding and Student Finance. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
