4 India: Commonwealth Games A question was asked by Lord Harries of Pentregarth and answered by Lord Howell of Guildford.

5 Employment: cuts in public expenditure A question was asked by Lord Liddle and answered by Baroness Wilcox.

6 Tourism: United Kingdom economy A question was asked by Lord Lee of Trafford and answered by Baroness Garden of Frognal.

7 Drugs: classification A question was asked by Lord Taverne and answered by Baroness Neville-Jones.

8 Finance (No. 2) Bill A bill to grant certain duties, to alter other duties, and to amend the law relating to the National Debt and the Public Revenue, and to make further provision in connection with finance, certified by the Speaker as a money bill, was brought from the Commons and read a first time.

9 Public Bodies Bill [HL] Lord Taylor of Holbeach moved that the bill be now read a second time. After debate, the motion was agreed to. Then Lord Taylor of Holbeach moved that the bill be committed to a Committee of the Whole House. Then Lord Hunt of Kings Heath moved, as an amendment to the commitment motion, to leave out "Committee of the Whole House" and insert "Select Committee". The amendment in the name of Lord Hunt of Kings Heath was disagreed to (see division list). Then the original commitment motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

The House adjourned at 11.44pm until Wednesday 10 November at 3.00pm.
