Prayers were read by the Lord Bishop of Blackburn.

1 Lord Elliott of Morpeth The Lord Speaker informed the House that Lord Elliott of Morpeth, a member of the House, had died on 20 May 2011.

2 Barony of Burgh in the Peerage of England The Petition of Alexander Gregory Disney Leith claiming to have succeeded to the Barony of Burgh in the Peerage of England and praying that the Clerk of the Parliaments might be directed to enter the petitioner as Lord Burgh on the register of hereditary peers maintained under Standing Order 10(5) was presented and was referred to the Lord Chancellor for a report to the House pursuant to Standing Order 11.

5 Olympic Games 2012: London air quality A question was asked by Lord Berkeley and answered by Earl Attlee.

6 Housing: market stability A question was asked by Lord Best and answered by Baroness Hanham.

7 Banking: savings accounts A question was asked by Baroness Stowell of Beeston and answered by Lord Sassoon.

8 Mental health: children in local authority care A question was asked by the Earl of Listowel and answered by Earl Howe.

9 Draft Defamation Bill Lord Strathclyde moved that, notwithstanding the Resolution of this House of 23 March, it be an instruction to the Joint Committee on the Draft Defamation Bill that it should report on the draft Bill by 31 October 2011. The motion was agreed to and a message was sent to the Commons.

10 D raft Detention of Terrorist Suspects (Temporary Extension) Bills Lord Strathclyde moved that, notwithstanding the Resolution of this House of 8 March, it be an instruction to the Joint Committee on the Draft Detention of Terrorist Suspects (Temporary Extension) Bills that it should report on the draft Bills by 23 June 2011. The motion was agreed to and a message was sent to the Commons.

11 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme (Nitrous Oxide) Regulations 2011 Lord Taylor of Holbeach moved that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 22 March be approved. The motion was agreed to.

12 Water Industry (Schemes for Adoption of Private Sewers) Regulations 2011 Lord De Mauley moved that the draft Regulations laid before the House on 26 April be approved. The motion was agreed to.

13 European Union Bill The bill was further considered in Committee, beginning with amendment 48A. Debate on amendment 55B was adjourned. The House resumed.

14 Granting and enforcement of privacy injunctions Lord Wallace of Tankerness repeated as a ministerial statement the answer given to an Urgent Question in the House of Commons.

The House adjourned. The House resumed.

15 European Union Bill The bill was further considered in Committee, beginning with the resumed debate on amendment 55B. The House resumed after clause 21 was agreed to.
