1 Lord Rodger of Earlsferry The Lord Speaker informed the House that Lord Rodger of Earlsferry, a member of the House, had died on 26 June 2011.
2 Dukedom of Grafton in the Peerage of England The Petition of Henry Oliver Charles Fitzroy claiming to have succeeded to the Dukedom of Grafton in the Peerage of England and praying that the Clerk of the Parliaments might be directed to enter the petitioner as Duke of Grafton on the register of hereditary peers maintained under Standing Order 10(5) was presented and referred to the Lord Chancellor for a report to the House pursuant to Standing Order 11.
3 Earldom of Onslow in the Peerage of the United Kingdom The Petition of Rupert Charles William Bullard Onslow commonly called Viscount Cranley claiming to have succeeded to the Earldom of Onslow in the Peerage of the United Kingdom and praying that the Clerk of the Parliaments might be directed to enter the petitioner as Earl of Onslow on the register of hereditary peers maintained under Standing Order 10(5) was presented and referred to the Lord Chancellor for a report to the House pursuant to Standing Order 11.

8 Privacy and injunctions Lord Strathclyde moved that it is expedient that a joint committee of Lords and Commons be appointed to consider privacy and injunctions, including:
(1) how the statutory and common law on privacy and the use of anonymity injunctions and super-injunctions has operated in practice;
(2) how best to strike the balance between privacy and freedom of expression, in particular how best to determine whether there is a public interest in material concerning people’s private and family life;
(3) issues relating to the enforcement of anonymity injunctions and super-injunctions, including the internet, cross-border jurisdiction within the United Kingdom, parliamentary privilege and the rule of law; and
(4) issues relating to media regulation in this context, including the role of the Press Complaints Commission and the Office of Communications (OFCOM);
and that the committee should report by 29 February 2012.
