2 Tributes Tributes were paid to Baroness Hayman on her retirement as Lord Speaker of the House.

3 Leave of Absence Leave of absence was granted to Lord Prys-Davies for the remainder of this Parliament.

4 Health: HIV and Aids A question was asked by Lord Fowler and answered by Earl Howe.

5 Retirement age A question was asked by Lord Sheldon and answered by Lord Freud.

6 Living standards A question was asked by Baroness Lister of Burtersett, on behalf of Lord Rooker, and answered by Lord Sassoon.

7 Summer recess: ministerial cover A question was asked by Lord Kennedy of Southwark and answered by Lord Strathclyde.

8 Business of the House Lord Strathclyde moved that Standing Order 46 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken on one day) be dispensed with on Monday 3 October to allow the Sovereign Grant Bill to be taken through all its remaining stages. The motion was agreed to.

9 Administration and Works The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Laming be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Baroness D’Souza. The motion was agreed to.

10 House Committee The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Laming be appointed a member of the Select Committee, and that Baroness D’Souza be appointed Chairman in place of Baroness Hayman. The motion was agreed to.

11 Liaison The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Laming be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Baroness D’Souza. The motion was agreed to.

12 Privileges and Conduct The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Laming be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Baroness D’Souza. The motion was agreed to.

13 Procedure of the House The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Laming be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Baroness Hayman. The motion was agreed to.

14 Selection The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Laming be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Baroness D’Souza. The motion was agreed to.

15 Privacy and Injunctions The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Boateng be appointed a member of the Joint Committee in place of Lord Grabiner. The motion was agreed to.

16 Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Bill [HL] The Chairman of Committees moved that, as proposed by the Committee of Selection, the following Lords be appointed to the Special Public Bill Committee on the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Bill [HL]:
