Public Business

5 Health and Social Care Bill Standing Order 40(1) having been dispensed with, Earl Howe moved that the bill be now read a second time. Then Lord Rea moved, as an amendment to the motion that the bill be now read a second time, to leave out from "that" to the end and insert "this House declines to give the bill a second reading, in the light of the statement in the Coalition Agreement that 'we will stop the top-down reorganisations of the NHS that have got in the way of patient care'." After debate, the debate was adjourned.

The House adjourned. The House resumed.

6 Regional Growth Fund A question was asked by Lord Harrison and answered by Baroness Wilcox.

7 Multiculturalism A question was asked by Lord Harries of Pentregarth and answered by Baroness Hanham.

8 Asylum seekers A question was asked by Baroness Bakewell and answered by Earl Attlee.

11 Health and Social Care Bill The debate on the amendment to the motion for second reading was resumed. After debate, the debate was further adjourned.
