1 Barony of Ampthill in the Peerage of the United Kingdom The Petition of David Whitney Erskine Russell claiming to have succeeded to the Barony of Ampthill in the Peerage of the United Kingdom and praying that the Clerk of the Parliaments might be directed to enter the petitioner as Lord Ampthill on the register of hereditary peers maintained under Standing Order 10(5) was presented and referred to the Lord Chancellor for a report to the House pursuant to Standing Order 11.

2 Police: stop and account A question was asked by Lord Morris of Handsworth and answered by Lord Henley.

3 Universal credit A question was asked by Lord Touhig and answered by Lord Wallace of Saltaire.

4 Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs: research and development A question was asked by Baroness Byford and answered by Lord Taylor of Holbeach.

5 Hereditary peers A question was asked by Lord Trefgarne and answered by Lord Strathclyde.

6 Business of the House Lord Strathclyde moved that the debate on the motion in the name of Lord Blencathra set down for today shall be limited to 1½ hours and that in the name of Lord Luke to 3½ hours. The motion was agreed to.

7 European Union (Definition of Treaties) (Second Agreement amending the Cotonou Agreement) Order 2011 Baroness Northover moved that the draft Order laid before the House on 19 July be approved. The motion was agreed to.

8 Incidental Flooding and Coastal Erosion (England) Order 2011 Lord Taylor of Holbeach moved that the draft Order laid before the House on 5 September be approved. The motion was agreed to.

9 Crime: home and protection (1½-hour debate) Lord Blencathra moved for papers relating to the protection of home and person from intrusion or assault. After debate, the motion was withdrawn.

10 Schools: history (3½-hour debate) Lord Luke moved for papers relating to the teaching of history in schools. After debate, the motion was withdrawn.

11 Legislative Reform (Industrial and Provident Societies and Credit Unions) Order 2011 Lord Sassoon moved that the draft Legislative Reform Order laid before the House on 19 July be approved. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
