Public Business

1 Housing: rented homes A question was asked by Lord Kennedy of Southwark and answered by Baroness Hanham.

2 Pakistan A question was asked by Lord Ahmed and answered by Lord Howell of Guildford.

3 UK Border Agency: prisoners A question was asked by Lord Avebury and answered by Lord Henley.

4 Riots Communities and Victims Panel A question was asked by Lord McKenzie of Luton and answered by Lord Henley.

5 Caravan Sites Bill [HL] Lord Avebury presented a bill to make provision to secure the establishment of caravan sites by local authorities in England for the use of Gypsies and Travellers. It was read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 115)

6 Business of the House Lord Strathclyde moved that the debates on the motions in the names of Baroness Emerton and the Earl of Sandwich set down for today shall each be limited to 2½ hours. The motion was agreed to.

7 Procedure of the House The Chairman of Committees moved that Lord Campbell-Savours be appointed a member of the Select Committee in place of Lord Goldsmith. The motion was agreed to.

8 Nursing (2½-hour debate) Baroness Emerton moved that this House takes note of front-line nursing care. After debate, the motion was agreed to.

9 International development policy (2½-hour debate) The Earl of Sandwich moved that this House takes note of Her Majesty’s Government’s proposals for international development policy, including proposals on the situation of Dalits. After debate, the motion was agreed to.

10 HIV and AIDS in the United Kingdom Lord Fowler moved that this House takes note of the Report of the Select Committee on HIV and AIDS in the United Kingdom (HL Paper 188). After debate, the motion was agreed to.

Grand Committee Business

The Grand Committee met in the Moses Room at 2.03pm.

Eurozone crisis (4-hour debate) Lord Lamont of Lerwick moved that the Grand Committee do consider the economic situation of the United Kingdom, including the impact of the Eurozone crisis on the United Kingdom and other non-Eurozone members. After debate, the motion was agreed to.
