1 Deaths of Lords The Lord Speaker informed the House that the following members of the House had died:

2 Barony of Inchiquin in the Peerage of Ireland The Lord Chancellor reported that Conor Myles John O’Brien had established his succession to the Barony of Inchiquin.
3 Barony of Somerleyton in the Peerage of the United Kingdom The Petition of Hugh Francis Savile Crossley claiming to have succeeded to the Barony of Somerleyton in the Peerage of the United Kingdom and praying that the Clerk of the Parliaments might be directed to enter the petitioner as Lord Somerleyton on the register of hereditary peers maintained under Standing Order 10(5) was presented and referred to the Lord Chancellor for a report to the House pursuant to Standing Order 11.

9 Business of the House Lord Strathclyde moved that, in the event of the Sunday Trading (London Olympic and Paralympic Games) Bill [HL] being read a second time, Standing Order 46 (No two stages of a Bill to be taken on one day) be dispensed with on Thursday 26 April to allow the Bill to be taken through its remaining stages that day. The motion was agreed to.
10 Canterbury City Council Bill The Chairman of Committees moved that this House resolves that the promoters of the Canterbury City Council Bill which was originally introduced in the House of Commons in session 2007–08 on 22 January 2008 should have leave to suspend any further proceedings on the bill in order to proceed with it, if they think fit, in the next session of Parliament according to the provisions of Private Business Standing Order 150A (Suspension of bills). The motion was agreed to and a message was sent to the Commons.
11 Leeds City Council Bill The Chairman of Committees moved that this House resolves that the promoters of the Leeds City Council Bill which was originally introduced in the House of Commons in session 2007–08 on 22 January 2008 should have leave to suspend any further proceedings on the bill in order to proceed with it, if they think fit, in the next session of Parliament according to the provisions of Private Business Standing Order 150A (Suspension of bills). 17 Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill The bill having been returned from the Commons on Wednesday 18 April with reasons and amendments, and the reasons and amendments having been printed in accordance with Standing Order 50(2) (HL Bill 140), the reasons and amendments were considered.

The Committee proposed the following reason for insisting on Lords Amendment 31:
