1 Baroness McFarlane of Llandaff The Lord Speaker informed the House that Baroness McFarlane of Llandaff, a member of the House, had died on 13 May 2012.

3 Aviation policy A question was asked by Lord Spicer and answered by Earl Attlee.

4 Youth unemployment A question was asked by Lord Kennedy of Southwark and answered by Lord Freud.

5 Pakistan A question was asked by Lord Ahmed and answered by Lord Howell of Guildford.

6 Working tax credits A question was asked by Lord Touhig and answered by Lord Sassoon.

7 Smoke-free Private Vehicles Bill [HL] Lord Ribeiro presented a bill to amend the Health Act 2006 to make provision for a ban on smoking in private vehicles where there are children present. It was read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 9)

8 Airports (Amendment) Bill [HL] Lord Empey presented a bill to amend theAirports Act 1986. It was read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 10)

9 Wind Turbines (Minimum Distance from Residential Premises) Bill [HL] Lord Reay presented a bill to make provision for a minimum distance between wind turbines and residential premises according to the size of the wind turbine; and for connected purposes. (HL Bill 11)

10 Presumption of Death and Provisions Relating to Missing Persons Bill [HL] Baroness Kramer presented a bill to make provision for a declaration of presumed death of missing persons; for the administration of the affairs of missing persons; and for connected purposes. It was read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 12)

11 Committee of Selection The Chairman of Committees moved that in accordance with Standing Order 63 a Committee of Selection be appointed to select and propose to the House the names of the members to form each select committee of the House (except the Committee of Selection itself and any committee otherwise provided for by statute or by order of the House) or any other body not being a select committee referred to it by the Chairman of Committees, and the panel of Deputy Chairmen of Committees; and that the following members together with the Chairman of Committees be appointed to the Committee:

  4. L Hylton
  5. L Laming
  6. L McNally
  7. L Newby

12 Defence budget Lord Astor of Hever repeated a ministerial statement made in the House of Commons.

13 Queen’s Speech The debate on the motion that a Humble Address be presented to Her Majesty was resumed and, after further debate, was again adjourned until Tuesday 15 May.

The House adjourned at 10.37pm until Tuesday 15 May at 2.30pm.
