Public Business

1 Antarctic Bill Viscount Montgomery of Alamein moved that the bill be now read a second time. After debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

2 Presumption of Death Bill Baroness Kramer moved that the bill be now read a second time. After debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

3 Mobile Homes Bill Lord Best moved that the bill be now read a second time. After debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House.

4 Marine Navigation (No. 2) Bill Baroness Wilcox moved that the House do resolve itself into a Committee on the Bill. Then Lord Berkeley moved, as an amendment to the motion, to leave out from "House" to end and insert "declines to consider the bill in committee until Her Majesty’s Government have laid before both Houses of Parliament a report on the compatibility of the provisions of the bill (and in particular the provisions of Clause 2 and proposals to allow junior ratings to hold pilotage exemption certificates) with the International Maritime Organization’s International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers." After debate, the amendment was withdrawn and the original motion was agreed to. The House resumed after amendment 1.
